BAF 404 Financial Crises-Elective
The course reviews the main theories of financial crises and their applications to various aspects of the financial system. It aims to introuduce students to the analytical literature on financial markets and crises, and enable them understand the causes of financial crises and possible remedies. Topics include credit crunches, economic booms and euphoria, frauds, role of central banks, asset price bubbles, policy responses, international last resorts. The course also gives a historical perspective on major financial panics beginning from 17th Century till today
BAF 410 Special Topics in Finance-Elective
The content of this course will be redesigned each term in accordance with the new discussions in the finance literature by taking the student’s areas of interest into account.
BAF 416 Portfolio Game-Elective
This course is designed conjointly with İş Yatırım to build a basic understanding of the financial markets and instruments, valuation of financial assets, risk-return relationship and asset pricing along with the mainstream theory such as CAPM, APT and 3-Factor Model, portfolio construction, and portfolio management strategies as well as portfolio performance measures, market efficiency and anomalies, major market indicators including technical indicators with special concentration devoted to the trading practices and applications.
BAF 418 Real Estate Finance and Investments-Elective
Bearing in mind that “real estate” is one of the most charming investment options for both individual households and commercial enterprises, especially when Turkish experience is considered, the course intends to offer a general introduction to the most fundamental concepts, principles, analytical methods and tools useful for making investment and finance decisions regarding real estate assets.
BAF 419 Special Topics in Banking-Elective
The content of this course will be redesigned each term in accordance with the new discussions in the banking literature by taking the student’s areas of interest into account.
BAF 420 Financial Derivatives-Elective
This course concentrates on complex financial derivatives and applicable strategies with them. Forwards, futures, swaps, arbitrage and hedging techniques, collateralized debt obligations will be main topics.
